1 cup shortening (1/2 lb. sweet butter)
1 cup confectionery sugar
2 1/2 cups flour (sifted)
1 - 1 1/4 cups chopped walnuts or pecans
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon vanilla
This recipe can be made manually but is much easier in a mix-master.
Dough should be soft and a firm consistency. Shape each one like a date
and place on cookie sheet. Do not grease cookie sheet.
Bake in oven at 325 for 25 - 30 minutes
They should be a pale color, both top and bottom, when removed from oven.
